Santa Giulia beach in Porto-Vecchio
Sylvie, Product Manager and avid traveler, imagines our tours as she travels, with the eye of an enthusiast who knows the terrain and knows how to reveal the most beautiful experiences.
Along with its neighbor Palombaggia,it's the most famous beach in southern Corsica. If you're wondering why, come and enjoy its inexhaustible charm. It's sheltered by its protected gulf of granite, porphyry and limestone , and the exemplary clarity of its seabed seduces all who approach it. It's alive both day and night, stretching 2 km from north to south, and bordering a pond as seductive as itself.
How do I get to the Gulf of Santa Giulia in southern Corsica?
From the south of Porto-Vecchio, head towards Bonifacio. On the T10, at the Précojo traffic circle, turn left towards Marina di Santa Giulia, or continue towards Bonifacio and take the second left, 1 minute later, towards Santa Giulia. The second option offers a large 400-space parking lot, giving you access to a little corner of paradise.
Where to go on Santa Giulia beach?
Relax on the terrace and in the restaurant
In Marina di Santa Giulia, the beach is often crowded with the tenants of the mini-villas built into the hillside residences. We advise you to head for the Hotel Moby Dick (access for hotel residents only) and park in the first parking lot. On the same level, you'll easily find our favorite beach hut: Paradisula, where depending on the time of day, you can enjoy a nutella panini with an exotic smoothie, or a cocktail followed by swordfish a la plancha, in the shade of a refined decor. In the evening, the terrace comes alive with Corsican music - you'll love it!
Some people think that the journey from the beach to the sea is already a sport, because after a day of lazing around, they're tired! Perhaps it's the result of letting go, the pleasure of doing nothing but contemplating the spectacle.
Santa Giulia marina, Porto-Vecchio
This is the ideal starting point for a holiday in southern Corsica, where turquoise seas and top-of-the-range services come together.
Boat trips, water sports and direct access to the Santa Giulia beach let you experience the lagoon without constraints. Its seaside restaurants offer an elegant interlude, from lunch to sunset. Make the Santa Giulia marina part of your tailor-made trip to enjoy the most beautiful landscapes in southern Corsica.
Sports activities
How about a horseback ride between sea and scrub, ending in the translucent waters of Santa Giulia Bay? Your horse will be loosened up for a bareback swim in the lagoon, and if you like, a photographer can capture the perfect moment!
Few people know about the trail starting from the south of the beach, ideal for a beautiful loop hike or a morning jog. We'll tell you about it: walk past the Moby Dick Hotel, cross the footbridge on your right and take the path. After a 20-minute walk, before the stream, turn left towards the ridge. As you pass the hamlet of Ghjuncaghjola, a vestige of bygone days, the cairns will guide you towards the smell of the sea and the descent through a refreshing undergrowth.
The shallow waters are a delight for young children, who can wade in peacefully. For older children, the nautical base awaits you for a session of water skiing, surfing, paddle, funboat, canoeing...
Watch the pond along the bay
Situated at the bottom of the gulf, from which it is separated by a lido, the pond is defined as a natural zone of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest, and belongs to the Conservatoire du Littoral. Over time, junipers have given way to pines, the pond is home to salicornia and obiones, two edible maritime plants, and the Corsican aphianus (a small protected fish), while passerines, moorhens, grey herons, egrets and pink flamingos thrive among the rushes and reeds. The pond is very lively all year round! We suggest a bucolic stroll at dawn when nature awakens, in short, a moment apart.
Where to stay in Santa Giulia? Hotel, residence or villa?
