With its Catalan-influenced architecture and ochre facades, Alghero looks like something out of a movie. Not far from Alghero, by boat or on foot, the Neptune Caves lie hidden in the protected area of Capo caccia.

Bellissima suredda Sarda*

*Such a pretty Sardinian sister

On the other side of the Bouches de Bonifacio, Sardinia offers a different face. The second-largest Mediterranean island by surface area is a jewel of turquoise beaches and golden sand, with mountains and hills at its heart.

Wild in the south, tamed in the north, arid and harsh in the center. Rivers and dams support intense agricultural activity, focused on olives, wheat, cork, vines and sheep. But tourism, spearheaded by the Costa Smeralda in the 50's by the Aga Khan, who made it the kingdom of the Jet-Set, is developing throughout the region, offering this authentic island an economic alternative.

This beautiful Italian island is steeped in tradition, and its mountain people will tell you all about its legends and secrets.

You'll learn how to fight tuna in hand-to-hand combat, why the islets have original names like "Mal Di Ventre", you'll taste full-bodied cheeses, tasty meat, Carasau bread as thin as a pancake, and lobsters fresh from the net. Admire the works of art made of coral, cork and gold thread, or the shimmering ancestral costumes.

A rich history made up of successive dominations: Roman, Arab, Genoese, Pisan, Catalan with the King of Aragon, and even Austrian, before falling to Italy. The contrasting history of Sardinia can be deciphered on the "Murales", frescoes painted along the picturesque streets.

How do I get to Sardinia from Corsica?

During your trip to Corsica, you'll certainly want to discover its Sardinian cousin. From Bonifacio, a town in the extreme south of the island, there's a ferry line linking Corsica to Sardinia. The crossing takes 50 minutes and costs around €30 for an adult, not including your means of transport (motorcycle, car...). If you're spending your vacation in Bonifacio, plan a day or more in Sardinia. Its beaches, hills and villages are well worth a visit!

What accommodation do you recommend for a vacation in Sardinia?

Finding the ideal vacation accommodation is no easy task. Star-rated hotels, vacation homes, fully-equipped, simple and comfortable accommodation, all-inclusive packages, including breakfast, or accommodation for several people with a swimming pool? In Sardinia, there's plenty to choose from. Our team of locals will help you find the right accommodation to suit your needs and wishes.

Whether you're planning a family holiday, a romantic getaway or a solo trip, our advisors are here to help! Close to the beach, near the old port, not far from the citadel... We make your criteria a priority to find the accommodation that will make your nights in Sardinia an unforgettable dream!

What is the capital of Sardinia?

An island and region of Italy, Sardinia has its own capital: Cagliari. Located at the island's southernmost point, Cagliari is famous for its medieval quarter and the ramparts that once protected the town.

When is the best time to visit Sardinia?

Just as popular as its sister island Corsica during the summer months, Sardinia also offers magnificent off-season trips! If you want to enjoy the beaches and swimming, we recommend a trip between June and September, when the waters are still a little cool.

If you're more interested in Sardinia's landscapes, gastronomy, heritage or culture, opt for a holiday or tour outside the summer season. The weather in Sardinia is pleasant all year round! From March to October, temperatures are perfect for sightseeing and hiking!

What language is spoken in Sardinia?

As you can see, despite its close proximity to Corsica, Sardinia is actually an Italian island.

The majority of the language spoken is therefore Italian! However, don't be surprised if you come across some locals, hotel or restaurant staff speaking French!
