Balagne, Corsica's orchard

A holiday in the depths of Corsica!

If the south of Corsica is famous for its Aiguilles de Bavella, crystal-clear beaches and must-see seaside resorts, the hilltop villages of the island's north-western hinterland will delight you with their authentic charm. Far from the crowded and sometimes inaccessible beaches, you'll revel in the charm of the most beautiful villages on the Ile de Beauté, between narrow streets brimming with heritage and historic monuments, wild nature and breathtaking sea views.
An inspiring getaway on a mountainside, all year round.

What to do in and around Calvi :

Stroll through the narrow streets of the town center and the Rue Clemenceau. Pedestrianized from 6 p.m. in the lower town, you'll find a lively atmosphere as you browse the many souvenir and food stalls set to live music.

Saint Jean-Baptiste Church in Calvi
Saint Jean-Baptiste Church in Calvi

Calvi's Saint-Jean-Baptiste church:

Push open the door of this 13th-century building to see its loggias designed to accommodate the wives of notables (the railings are period...). In the past, the rich sat at the top, the poor at the bottom. Take a look at the polychrome marble high altar, the baptismal font (1568), the Black Christ and the Virgin of the Rosary (16th century), which are only taken out for the Easter procession. The Black Christ, the Christ of miracles who saved the besieged city in the 16th century, has always been implored to perform miracles, and still is today!

Marine de Calvi
Marine de Calvi

La Marine:

Quai Landry is home to the marina known as Port Colonna, the largest in Corsica, where you can stroll before choosing a mouth-watering restaurant. Don't hesitate to head for the fishing port, where you'll see octopus, cuttlefish and squid, as well as red mullet, pageots, corbes, dentis, lobsters and lobsters. In 1967, there were 38 fishermen, today there are just 8, including the coral fisherman. Young people have gradually turned away from this profession, given the scarcity of fish and the arduous nature of the work.

Calvi and its salt tower
Calvi and its salt tower

Calvi's salt tower:

The 500-year-old naval torrachone was once an ideal lookout post. Gradually, it was transformed into a warehouse for one of the most precious commodities of the time: salt. Today, the site hosts exhibitions where you can discover the memory of the city through sculptures and paintings, and the Belvedere offers a perfect view of the city.
