Local inspiration and tips to enjoy at Südkorsika
The must-sees on a trip to South Corsica with a specialist
With its exceptionally sunny coastline and hills, the south of Corsica is home to many natural and cultural wonders. Your trip to South Corsica will take you close to some of the island's most beautiful spots. Between nature and tradition, refinement and relaxation, your vacation in Corsica is an opportunity to discover the incredible richness of the region.
The secrets of Southern Corsica
South Corsica is home to some of the island's most beautiful sites, but it also abounds in secret, unsuspected places. These are the beaches, mountain paths, coves and villages that only Corsicans know about, and which we reveal to you during your trip to South Corsica.
From Piana to Ajaccio
South Corsica is home to one of the island's most beautiful natural sites: the Calanques de Piana. Located in the Gulf of Portohalfway between Ajaccio and Calvi, these rock formations, into which the clear waters of the Mediterranean rush, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our local advisors will take you on board a hybrid boat to explore the calanques.
After discovering these natural treasures, a cultural break awaits you in Ajaccio. In the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, a multitude of museums pay tribute to this illustrious Corsican figure. A stay in Ajaccio will also give you the opportunity to sit down at the table of some wonderful restaurants to enjoy original and convivial Corsican cuisine.

From Propriano to Bonifacio
A little further south, on the edge of the island, where the Sardinian coastline begins to take shape, you'll enter a paradise of beaches and wild coastlines. Here, the small port town of Propriano is a must for any trip to Southern Corsica. On its magnificent beaches or through its charming little streets, Propriano is a delight to stroll through.
On the southernmost part of the island, near the cliffs of Bonifacio, you can wander through the fortified town and explore the Lavezzi islands. This region is also home to one of Corsica's most beautiful beaches...

From Ajaccio to Figari
A mixed land with a rich past, the roads are dotted with numerous relics of the island's history. Along the west coast's coastline, you'll see Genoese towers overlooking the Mediterranean. There are more than thirty of them, scattered along the cliffs of the southern coast. Between Piana and Ajaccio, a journey to Greece awaits you. It was in this small village, between mountain and beach, that a Greek colony settled in the 17th century. Take a stroll through the narrow streets and you'll come across one of the remains: the church of Saint-Spyridon, with its traditional Orthodox icons.
After strolling through villages and monuments with a variety of influences, make your way to the most Corsican of Corsican towns: Sartène. This fortified village overlooks the maquis on one side and the Mediterranean on the other. Between the ramparts and the stone houses, Corsican crafts are on display in the town's stalls. Fans of fine food are sure to delight in the Cave Sartenaise. This store in the old town offers Sartène wines, as well as charcuterie and cheeses typical of the region. If you've enjoyed this tasting and would like to discover more of Corsica's terroir, the Figari region and its vineyards await you a little further south.

Porto-Vecchio
If you prefer high-altitude adventures and lush green landscapes, we recommend heading up to Porto-Vecchio. Behind the city of salt, its port and beaches, lies the Ospedale massif. Head into the Alta Rocca region and you'll come across the charming village of Zonza, at the foot of the Aiguilles de Bavella. Follow the hiking trails near the Col de Bavella, and you'll have access to the Purcaraccia waterfalls. After a little effort, your reward will be a dip in one of the surprising natural pools of the same name.
