The renowned Purcaraccia near the Aiguilles de Bavella

How to get to the Purcaraccia waterfalls in Corsica?

In order to preserve the natural environment of the Purcaraccia waterfalls and the Aiguilles de Bavella mountains, access to the waterfalls is restricted from July 1 to September 15 to visitors accompanied by a guide certified by the commune of Quenza. See our list of authorized guides for a visit to the Purcaraccia waterfalls.

There are two ways to reach the Purcaraccia river from Porto-Vecchio:

Via Solenzara: This route is recommended. From Porto-Vecchio, take the T10 towards Solenzara. In Solenzara, continue on the D268 towards Zonza.

Via Zonza: From Porto-Vecchio, take the D368 to the village of Zonza. Continue on the D268 to the Col de Bavella, then to the Col de la Bocca di Larone, where you'll find the parking lot for the Purcaraccia waterfalls.

The Purcaraccia canyon parking lot is located at the Col de la Bocca di Larone, along the D268 road. It is important to note that quotas have been set to preserve the natural environment of the Aiguilles de Bavella. Access to the Bocca di Laroneis reserved exclusively for visitors who have made a reservation with an authorized guide.

Why do we love it?

Even though the place is well known to tourists and locals alike, we couldn't resist sharing it with you. Purcaraccia is a paradise of nature: sun-warmed granite rocks, two 40-metre-high waterfalls to abseil down, basins for swimming in cool (15 degrees), transparent water, natural slides, and a magical view of the the Aiguilles de Bavella (1,857 meters high), where you can dive in, jump off gently or go full speed ahead to explore new sensations. Forcanyoningwill be delighted by this unspoilt setting, and can book their outing according to their level with a professional who has all the necessary equipment (helmets, harnesses, karabiners, shoes...) and neoprene wetsuits.

Swimming in the Solenzara river

Why do we love it?

The natural pools of Solenzara are very pleasant and easy to get to by road. You'll need sneakers to access the many swimming areas via small rocky paths. Deep pools invite young and old to jump in and out of the water. The emerald-green freshwater is the perfect temperature for snorkeling, where you can meet a few fish. In complete privacy, you can sunbathe on a mini beach, on a large rock or in the shade of the pine trees, and perhaps even spot a golden eagle. Our tip: to fully enjoy the emerald-green pools and find a quiet spot, leave early in the morning. Corsicatours tip: Bring water shoes for comfortable exploring!

The Cavu natural pools in Sainte Lucie de Porto-Vecchio

How do I get to the Cavu natural pools?

Located 20 km from the town of Porto-VecchioTo reach the Cavu natural pools, follow the signs for Taglio Rosso / Vallée du Cavu from the traffic lights at Sainte-Lucie de Porto-Vecchio. After the hamlet of Taglio Rosso, take a track that's easy to drive on, and park in the parking lot (€10 per day). Here you can take the free shuttle bus to the three swimming pools.

Why do we love it?

The reputation of beaches of Corsica's of Corsica shouldn't prevent you from visiting other sites where the heat is more bearable. The Cavu valley in Alta Rocca offers several choices: if you want to be on your own, after a few minutes' walk you'll choose a quiet spot along the track that offers several access points on foot, but if you'd like to share a moment with other families, you'll go as far as a large platform covered with large, rounded granite slabs. There's something for everyone: bask all day in the freshwater pools carved out by time, or jump and dive along the waterfalls. We also recommend the many quiet activities surrounded by the maquis offered by our service provider. The coast is so close that you can take a dip in the river and then in the sea, all in the same day ! Corsicatours tip: Opt for a full day of exploration by combining the natural pools with a hike in the surrounding area.

The Criviscia stream near Zonza

Why do we love it?

This bridge stands on the banks of the Saint-Antoine river, which rises on the slopes of the Bavella and Incudine massifs: an exceptional panorama! The river, nestled in a setting of pines and oaks, is renowned for the excellent quality of its water. First you can swim in the shallow water, then head for a canyon where the water is cooler, surprising you as it comes from the heart of the mountains. The large rocks in this idyllic spot are natural diving boards, but they'll also welcome you for a siesta in the sun before another swim and another...

If you're asked where to go river-bathing in Corsica, you'll say ZOZA!

How do I get to the Zoza natural pools?

You need to get to Sainte Lucie de Tallano, near Levie. Stop off at Sainte Lucie to visit the convent of Saint François, the oil mill, listen to the history of olive oil in the oil cellar and have a drink by the fountain. Then head for Zoza, about 4 km away, where you'll find a parking lot. A footpath leads to the magnificent waterfalls. Be careful not to confuse ZOZA with ZONZA.

Why do we love it?

This is our last selection in southern Corsica, but you'll find plenty of other little corners of paradise far from the coast! Head down to the Ponte Vecchio (old bridge), which spans the Rizzaneze river and overlooks a waterfall and 2 beautiful natural pools where the water flows freely. Equipped with sneakers and shorts, we recommend a leisurely trip up the river for a water hike: you'll alternate walking and swimming in real emerald-green lagoons where the calm will enchant you. You may be lucky enough to spot a rock pigeon or a Corsican Discoglossus(the Corsican painted frog, considered a strictly protected species of Community interest). After Zoza, the road climbs to Sorbollano along the river: an ideal spot for fishing and canoeing.
