Our local experts tell you all about our trips to Corsica!

How do I get to Corsica by plane and boat?

Many airports in different cities on the mainland offer direct flights to Corsica. Choose your flight from a departure city near you to one of Corsica's airports:

- Bastia Poretta airport,
- Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte airport,
- Calvi Sainte-Catherine airport,
- Figari Sud Corse airport.

For your stay in Corsica, you can choose between several departure cities throughout France. More than 20 airports offer direct flights from the mainland to the island. Departure points in mainland France include flights from Lille, Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Toulouse, Montpellier, Nantes and Strasbourg.
You can also fly to Corsica from Brussels, Liège, Geneva and Luxembourg airports.

You can also make the crossing by ferry from the mainland, departing from Nice, Marseille, Toulon in the south of France, and even from Italy. The ferry crossing allows you to bring your own means of transport to the island (car, motorcycle, scooter...). Arrival ports in Corsica are Bastia, Ile Rousse, Calvi, Ajaccio, Propriano and Porto-Vecchio.

How do I get to Sardinia from Corsica?

During your trip to Corsica, you'll certainly want to discover its Sardinian cousin. From Bonifacio, a town in the extreme south of the island, there's a ferry line linking Corsica to Sardinia. The crossing takes 50 minutes and costs around €30 for an adult, not including your means of transport (motorcycle, car...). If you're spending your vacation in Bonifacio, plan a day or more in Sardinia. Its beaches, hills and villages are well worth a visit!

Hotels, rentals, camping: where to spend your vacations in Corsica?

For your vacations in Corsica, a wide range of accommodation is available for rent!

Whether you opt for an all-inclusive week-long tour, several organized stays from north to south, or just one or two nights on our little piece of France: we'll point you in the direction of the accommodation best suited to your needs and desires!

For one night or more, we advise you to choose your accommodation from :

  • The hotel: From a Michelin-starred hotel to a 100% natural hotel, with a swimming pool or near a private beach... Corsican hotels have something to satisfy your every desire! Whatever the length of your tour, your means of transport, or the number of people with you... there's something for every price!
  • Farm inn: As accommodation, this solution offers a real change of scenery. In contact with animals and nature, you'll be able to sample genuine local produce and immerse yourself in Corsican culture.
  • Bed and breakfast: Bed and breakfasts are a great way to enjoy the human touch and the warm welcome of the owners! Our partners will be able to guide you and give you the best advice for visiting the region!
  • Unusual accommodation: Looking for a unique way to spend the night? Choose an unusual accommodation: a bubble, a perched hut, under the stars or in a lighthouse, to take the high road!

For a minimum 7-night stay, we recommend :

  • Camping: Ideal for families, camping offers a warm and welcoming environment all year round, in comfortable mobile homes and chalets! Whether it's to suit your exact length of stay, a tour or your lifestyle: camping is the simple solution. The little extra: a campsite with a swimming pool for children and adults to enjoy! Would you prefer a wide choice of services, such as swimming pools, restaurants, bars, kids' clubs, sports and entertainment activities... With all the comforts of a hotel? We invite you to choose the club option! The Holiday Club lets you experience the all-inclusive pleasure of a hotel with the added bonus of nature. But that's just our opinion!
  • Residence: Beachfront residence? Residence with swimming pool? Residence near Porticcio? We think that for a more intimate vacation, and to feel "at home", prefer a residence with all the comforts you need for your trip.
  • Villa : for a stay at your own pace, in a dream setting that can accommodate the whole family... This type of rental is the ideal accommodation for taking the time to live your vacation as you wish! But after all, make up your own mind!

Based on your wishes and the opinions of our other travelers, we carefully select quality service providers to welcome you to their accommodation.

Don't hesitate to contact our advisors to discuss your project! Each person is unique, and so are Corsicatours trips!

Where to go for the first time in Corsica?

If you're visiting Corsica for the first time, we recommend that you start with the most emblematic sites. Bastia, the island's second-largest city, offers a lively Mediterranean atmosphere and a rich cultural heritage. Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica, is famous for being the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, and here you can discover his birthplace and museums. The Porto-Vecchio region is renowned for its superb beaches, while the Scandola nature reserve and the Calanques de Piana are natural sites not to be missed. Of course, it's also worth exploring other parts of the island to discover France's hidden treasures and recognizable diversity.

When does it rain in Corsica?

If you want to avoid rainy days during your trip to Corsica, you should know that the months from December to March are when it rains the most on the island. Despite this, Corsica enjoys a very mild climate all year round. In winter and autumn, Corsica is one of the sunniest places in Europe. Even if you're vacationing in Corsica in winter, you'll still be able to enjoy a beautiful day on the beach or a gourmet lunch on the terrace. If you plan ahead, you can get very competitive prices!

How much does a trip to Corsica cost?

If you want to be sure of finding the best hotel, club or accommodation for your trip to Corsica, we advise you to book your stay in advance. In summer, during the school vacations, Corsica is one of the most popular destinations for tourists, so prices are higher than in mainland France. If you're planning to travel to Corsica at this time, in our humble opinion, you should book at least 4 to 5 months in advance.

To make sure you have the vacation of your dreams, it's essential to book between January and March. That way, you can take advantage of our "Book early" offers !

How long is the ideal vacation in Corsica?

To make the most of a Corsican holiday, we recommend a minimum stay of between 10 and 15 nights/days.

For a family vacation on the beach, the ideal package would be a week in the south and/or a second week in the north of Corsica.

On the other hand, if you're planning a tour of the island to explore its secret spots, you'll need to allow between 7 and 15 nights/days on site.

Finally, it's also essential to spend one or two nights in one of the island's major towns, such as Bastia, Ajaccio, Bonifacio or Porto-Vecchio.

When is the best time to go on vacation in Corsica?

At every time of year, the island of Corsica reveals new faces. From the hot nights of summer, to the cool but peaceful nights of winter... Depending on what you want to do and how you want to spend your time in Corsica, certain months are more suitable for your vacation.

For a family vacation, on the beach, in the sun: our in Corsica experts recommend a stay in April, May or June. Just before summer and the arrival of the many visitors, this is the time to enjoy the intimate nights and discovery-filled days on the island of beauty.
In Haute-Corse, as in the south, the water warms up and invites you to the first swims of the year. And while the Mediterranean can still be cool in April, you'll have plenty of time for a dip in the heated pool of your hotel, club or accommodation.

Early autumn is also a very good time for a trip to Corsica. Temperatures are easing, but still very mild, and the late-season sun floods the beaches and mountains with its rays. It's the ideal time of year for hiking in the heart of the island or for water sports. Finally, winter, although much cooler than previous months, remains one of the mildest in Europe. Although the nights can be cold and the waters not recommended for swimming, the Corsican winter is sure to surprise you.

What documents do I need to travel to Corsica?

French nationals and tourists from European Union member states and Schengen countries only need their Carte Nationale d'Identité to travel to Corsica. This must, of course, be valid during your stay.

The wilder, more singular Haute Corse is a perfect blend of nature, terroir and authenticity. From the Agriate desert to the summit of Monte Cinto, the beauty of its landscapes is indescribable. Feel free, ambitious and inspired by your trip to Haute Corse.

Between refinement and tradition, South Corsica invites you on an authentic journey to the heart of the Isle of Beauty. From the coast to the mountains, via villages and popular towns, we reveal the most exclusive places in Southern Corsica!

How to get to Corsica

To get to Corsica from France, there are several transport options to choose from, depending on your preferences and budget.

You can opt for direct flights to the main Corsican airports such as Bastia, Ajaccio, Calvi or Figari, with regular flights! If you choose to travel by plane, the flight time from France is around 1 hour and 40 minutes for a flight from Paris to Ajaccio, for example. From Lyon, the flight takes 1 hour 10 minutes.

If you prefer a more intimate and flexible form of transport during your tour of the island, consider renting a car once you've arrived! This will allow you to explore the island at your own pace, with the freedom to discover its natural landscapes at your leisure. Make up your own mind!

For those who prefer an all-inclusive, yet gentle, holiday: a ferry or boat may be the most suitable means of transport for you! A crossing from Toulon to Ajaccio takes 8h by day and 11h by night, 12h by night between Marseille and Bastia and 6h from Nice. Relatively close by, Corsica promises a change of scenery just a few hours from home!

Prices vary according to season and airline.
