In August, temperatures can exceed 30° C on the island, offering pleasant bathing at over 25° C in the sea. The Mediterranean breeze makes the heat bearable. It's also an opportunity to roll out your towel on the beaches that abound on the island of beauty for a moment of pure relaxation.

  • Le Fiumicelli: Ideal for an aquatic excursion, with diving and swimming on the program.
  • Solenzara: A river with impressive pools and waterfalls in the heart of lush vegetation and surrounded by majestic mountains.
  • Polischellu: A river with magnificent waterfalls, much visited despite the difficulty of access.

Festivals

In August, a host of interesting cultural events take place all over the island. The island's cultural calendar is very full at this time of year.

For music lovers, don't miss the Erbalunga Piano Nights to hear the works of international artists. There's also the Porto Latino in Saint-Florent if you like Latin music. For lovers and enthusiasts of 7ᵉ art, the Lama Film Festival opens its doors around this time. These three events generally take place during the first week of August. During the other weeks of the month, the cultural calendar is still full with, among others, the Rencontres de Calenzana and the Journées Napoléoniennes in Ajaccio.

On August 15, the whole of Corsica celebrates the Virgin Mary, the patron saint of Corsica. It's an opportunity to gather around the traditional fireworks display before ending the evening with a musical evening. If you like to dance, each village posts the date of the next ball, so make a note of it and go for it.

A rental car is essential if you want to explore the island. Remember to avoid traffic jams by leaving early in the morning. Traffic jams on the roads to the most popular beaches tend to occur around 10.30 am. If you're already at the beach by then, you won't have any problems.

The other option for escaping traffic is to go where others don't go. Go to the east coast, where there are far fewer tourists in August.

Where to go in Corsica in August?

The Costa Verde, the Costa Serena and the Côte de Nacres are often forgotten by visitors, even though they are idyllic places so rich in natural beauty. The fine sandy beaches are perfect, the landscapes are all breathtaking and the villages have retained their beautiful authenticity.

You can also opt for Cap Corse, a little corner of paradise less visited than the far south.
