 Corse-du-Sud (2A) Belvédère-Campomoro

Campomoro (or Belvedere-Campomoro) will appeal to lovers of calm and serenity, and all those who want to spend a vacation in a small village with the promise of unusual bathing and hiking in a masterly landscape of wild coastline.

Where is Campomoro in Corsica?

To get to Campomoro in southern Corsica, take either the D21 from Sartène or the D121 from Propriano. 30 minutes later, you'll find yourself in a little paradise. This small seaside resort is a former fishing village on the Gulf of Valinco, which the Conservatoire du Littoral has defined as a protected area stretching as far as Capu di Senetosa. The large Campomoro-Senetosa site is a vast, uninhabited area with over 24 km of coastline. Far from the main tourist destinations, the Grand Site is illustrated by sandy or pebbly coves and numerous rocky capes. Most of this granite landscape is covered by scrubland.

À la Plage dans la Baie

At the foot of a hill, this bay offers good shelter from the notoriously gusty south-westerly Libecciu wind.

We recommend arriving early to park at the beach parking lot, as it's the only one accessible by car from the village. It stretches for 750 m and looks like a postcard lagoon. The translucent water is perfect for swimming, but you'll need a mask and snorkel to enjoy the schools of fish swimming near the rocks.

Enchanted by the hamlet of Campomoro? Come and discover it underwater, it's even more beautiful! You'll find what you're looking for among the many water sports on offer. From April to September, Fabien and his team welcome you every day for a snorkeling trip, a scuba diving experience or an underwater exploration.

To the south, Cala d'Agulia beach, encircling a small desert fjord, is our secret beach (except for those of you reading this) reserved for those who like to walk! To the north, Portigliolo beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Valinco, is well worth a visit: 2 km of fine sand in an unspoilt setting. There's a small parking area by the roadside.

Restaurant in the village of Belvédère-Campomoro

Surprise your taste buds and have a good time on a panoramic terrace overlooking the sea - that's part of the vacation too! The restaurants of the Gulf of Campomoro invite you to enjoy lobster, bouillabaisse, morning fish, shellfish risotto and all kinds of gourmet desserts, and maybe even a musical evening.

Dolphins of the south

It's not unusual to see dolphins in Campomoro Bay: they're attracted by the fish escaping from the nearby fish farm. Look closely, the cetaceans circles in the water just 50 meters from the shore. This spectacle of pirouettes and leaps is sure to make your day. Emotion guaranteed!

Punta di Campomorohike

The imposing Campomoro tower

At 15 m, this is Corsica's tallest tower, with the particularity of being wider than it is high, and above all the only one with a star-shaped enclosure. Its construction, instigated by Carlo Spinola following a barbarian raid on the town of Sartène, was completed in 1586. Moorish chieftains and pirates had come to plunder and steal hundreds of slaves! The tower is listed as a historic monument. Its main function, like all the other towers erected along the Corsican coast during the Genoese Republic, was to protect villagers from hostile pirates. A fire was lit at the top of the tower, and within a few hours all the towers on the island would be ablaze, warning the villagers to take shelter. Don't hesitate to visit it: an exhibition will tell you all about the important moments of this troubled period and some captivating anecdotes. You'll also enjoy a magnificent view of the bay and coastline, especially at sunset.

Hiking and coastal paths

This region is perfect for walking enthusiasts. All those along the coastline will marvel at the incredible shapes of the headlands: mind-boggling figures sculpted by the erosion of time. Use your imagination and have fun guessing what they represent: an animal, a human being, a tree?

From the Genoese tower, there are 3 hiking trails. Follow the path southwards, and one of them will take you to the beach Cala d'Agulia, a beautiful hidden cove that will give you a feeling of being at the end of the world. If you want to see more, take the signposted path to Cala d'Arana beach, the reward will be immense...(allow 3h30 from Campomoro).

For the more adventurous, we recommend a hike to Senetosa, along the coastal circuit (5 hours) and a visit to its beautiful lighthouse (bring a car to the start and one to the finish).

In the surrounding area

There are many archaeological sites and treasures to be found in Corsica, including Filitosa , just a few kilometers from Campomoro. On the northern shores of the Gulf of Valinco, discover 8,000 years of history. Allow 2 hours for the visit, following the explanatory markers amidst menhirs, statues and ceramic fragments, in a mysterious atmosphere. If you're interested in prehistory, you can explore other remarkable sites inland, such as the Palaggiu alignments and the Cauria plateau near Sartène, and the Cucuruzzu plateau near Levie.

Your pleasure will be infinite in this timeless place, so choose a different kind of vacation with a stopover in this region of unspoilt beaches. During your Corsica tour, we'll be happy to share all the attractions of the Valinco region with you.
