Balagne is also home to the Route des Artisans, where you can appreciate the skill and creativity of the island's craftsmen and women: glassmaking, cutlery, wrought ironwork, basketry, handmade pottery, AOC olive oil, textiles, artistic ceramics, knitting and weaving workshops... Enough to fill you with wonder and discover another facet of Corsica.

But, of all the beauty the region has to offer, the most important is its beautiful turquoise beaches, where you can build sandcastles and family memories.

When and how to get there

Balagne can be visited in any season, with plenty of sunshine all year round! But if you're looking for a peaceful change of scenery, it's best to come before or after the tourist season (May-June / September-October). For those who can't make it out of season, remember to book early, as Corsica is not a last-minute destination, and accommodation and campsites are quickly snapped up!

Two modes of transport are available:

• Plane: just 1h30 flight from Paris (and almost all other major cities), you can choose to land directly in Balagne at Calvi Sainte-Catherine airport (8 km from Calvi), or at Bastia Poretta airport (1h30 from Ile Rousse);
• Ferries : many shipping companies offer regular services to and from Ile Rousse. Board from Nice, Toulon or Marseille with Corsica Ferries or Corsica Linea.

Located in Calvi, the La Pinède is open from April to early November and offers direct access to a sandy beach (a 3-minute walk away). Scattered across the 5-hectare forest park, you'll find a choice of comfortable, air-conditioned chalets.
