Looking for a vacation with a change of scenery? Then the Nebbiu is the place for you! An atypical setting awaits you, full of contrasts and beautiful natural discoveries.

Why go to Nebbiu?

Situated between Cap Corse and the Agriate Desert, the Nebbiu region is the ideal place to discover Corsica's interior and island life. Also known as the Conca d'Oru, Nebbiu offers a quality environment for an authentic, relaxing vacation for two or a family. We offer you a meeting between land and sea, between greenery and the azure blue of a region that does its utmost to preserve its singular character through the work of its winegrowers.

U Nebbiu: how to get there?

When we think of Nebbiu, we usually think of Saint Florent. So how do you get there?

- By plane:

If you've opted to fly from the mainland, you have a choice of departure cities: Paris, Nice, Toulouse, Marseille, Lyon, Montpellier. You'll then have to disembark at Bastia Poretta International Airport. From there, by renting a car, you can reach Saint Florent in less than 40 minutes (30.4km).

- By ferry :

If you prefer to come by ferry, the easiest point of entry to Saint-Florent is the port of Bastia. From there, take a car up the Fango valley and over the Col de Teghime. This is the perfect opportunity to discover the magnificent Nebbiu region. Alternatively, drive south from Bastia along the Lancone road. Journey time: approx. 38 mins.

A simpler option, but with an extra 1h to 1h30 drive: disembark at the port of Ile Rousse. You'll then have to cross the Agriate desert, a region as magnificent as it is spectacular!

Things to see and do in the Nebbiu region

The lively island of beauty at Saint Florent

A beautiful seaside resort, the town of Saint Florent offers a landscape full of contrasts, wild and rugged, with breathtaking coastlines. Stretching for around 35km, to the west of Saint Florent is the famous Agriate Desert. Here you'll find an arid, hostile and mysterious landscape of endless scrubland and barren mountains. An almost lunar landscape! Numerous agencies specializing in 4x4 and quad tours can take you there from Saint Florent.

Inland, a greener landscape awaits you! A wine-growing landscape where vines stretch as far as the eye can see, rolling down the slopes, covering the hills... Don't miss the village of Patrimonio, famous for its top-quality wines and its "guitar nights" festival. Many wine merchants will be happy to offer you tastings of Corsican wines and share their passion for their land! In July, it's party time for a week, with world-renowned artists taking to the stage at Patrimonio's Théâtre de Verdure, in front of the wonderfully crafted menhir statue U Nativu .

The best surprise of all is the superb sandy beaches of Roya (starting point for the customs path), Saleccia (accessible by 4x4, boat or after a 4-hour walk) and Loto! Crystal-clear waters invite you to take a long dip and bask in the shade... Don't forget your sun cream, hat, plenty of water and sunglasses.

Back to Saint-Florent. As well as its pretty marina, where you can enjoy a stroll after lunch or when the sun goes down, Saint-Florent is also a meeting place for Corsican history. On the heights, you can visit a citadel built by the Genoese in 1440. A strategic place once used to protect the rear of Bastia. Another historic monument just outside Saint Florent on the road to Poggio d'Oletta is the Cathedral of Nebbiu, also known as the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.

Olmeta di Tuda, Haute-Corse villages and fine produce

We invite you to take the road that runs along the north bank of the Bevinco, offering beautiful views of the gorges, the Etang de Biguglia and the sea. Drive through the Défilé du Lancone on the D62, which was the first road to link the villages of the Nebbiu to the coast of greater Bastia, a road steeped in history and sometimes drama, built in difficult conditions on the mountainside, even in steep rock on the edge of a precipice. The défilé du Lancone has become a rally stage for its extreme scenery and suspended rocks, with its narrow, winding roads.

We also recommend a stroll through the wheat threshing grounds and traditional shepherd's huts starting out from Rutali. A true memory trail, you'll discover a landscape shaped by shepherds and farmers, on an 8km loop in 2 hours from the fountain where you'll fill your flask. You'll see around a hundred Pagliaghji, dry-stone constructions that served as shelters for shepherds and their animals.

The village of Murato will charm you with its unusual church, as well as for the quality of its sweet chestnut grove, its canistrelli and its bread.

The Lac de Padula and its pond are a great place for birdwatching: turtle doves, red-headed magpies, kestrels... Near Oletta, a pottery craftsman will share his art with you, and vegetable garden enthusiasts will enjoy a culinary discovery based on seasonal fruits and vegetables. For lovers of olive oil and olive trees, visit the Olivier farm in Santu Petru di Tenda, which perpetuates family know-how.
