Let's create your trip!

From imperial town to salt city

From the Mediterranean to the Tyrrhenian coasts, only 140 kilometers separate Ajaccio from Porto-Vecchio. And while it's easy to go from one coastline to the other, the variety of landscapes and settings you'll pass through will give you the impression of multiplying your journeys throughout your self-drive tour of Southern Corsica.

Ajaccio - Sainte Lucie de Tallano

To start your Autotour en Corse du Sud, we invite you to Ajaccio, the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. After visiting the emperor's house and the museums dedicated to him, strolling around the port and lounging on the Ariadne beach, take the road to the center of the island, towards Sainte Lucie de Tallano. This commune, perched on the heights of the Alta Rocca, is brimming with historic monuments such as the Saint-François convent and the Romanesque church of Saint-Jean. But beyond its beautiful stonework, Sainte Lucie de Tallano is also known as Corsica's olive oil capital. In the village's historic center, between cobbled streets and stone houses, push open the doors of the Santa-Lucia cellar to taste Corsica's yellow gold.

From calanques to cliffs

On the island of beauty, there's only one step from one marvel to another. On this self-guided tour of Southern Corsica, we take you from the colorful calanques of Piana to the majestic cliffs of Bonifacio.

Piana - Propriano

In Corsica, every road leads to a natural treasure. It's with the calanques of Piana, one of the island's most emblematic sites, that your self-drive tour of Southern Corsica begins. Stop off for the night near the charming port of Porto. At dawn the next morning, you can embark on a crossing around the calanques. Aboard a hybrid boat, your captain and his crew will take you between rocks and cliffs to discover this incredible UNESCO World Heritage site. For the rest of the itinerary, we suggest you follow the sea. Head down to Propriano via Ajaccio. In the imperial city, treat yourself to a gourmet moment at the A Nepita restaurant before hitting the road again. Once you've arrived in the seaside resort of Propriano, you can relax on the sand of Marinca beach, a little haven of peace that only Corsicans know.

Roccapina - Bonifacio

Corsican roads are full of surprises, and if a lion appears at the end of the road, don't be surprised - you're in Roccapina. After a moment's relaxation on the beaches of Propriano, your self-guided tour of southern Corsica continues on to Cap de Roccapina. On this beach in the south of the island, the rocks take on surprising shapes. As you prepare to dive into the turquoise waters of Southern Corsica, you'll catch a glimpse from the road of a lion and an elephant sculpted into the rocks by wind and erosion. Finally, the last stop on your South Corsica self-guided tour is some 30 km away, in the island's southernmost town: Bonifacio. Here, you can walk the cliffs, bask on the beaches, discover Corsica's heritage and even continue your journey by taking a boat to the Lavezzi Islands or Sardinia.
