How do I get to the Aiguilles de Bavella in southern Corsica?

Set off from Zonza, a picturesque mountain village, or from Solenzara for an ascent to the Col de Bavella, situated at an altitude of 1218 meters. The winding road, lined with spectacular views, invites you to drive carefully to take full advantage of the exceptional panorama. This road, famous for its many curves, is a true invitation to wonder, and leads you directly to one of Corsica's most grandiose sites, the promise of an unforgettable memory.

As you climb, keep your eyes open: with a bit of luck, you may come across a variety of local fauna such as sheep, pigs and cows, adding authentic charm to your journey. On arrival at the pass, head for the visitor parking area.

This trip is not just a journey, but a true experience of Corsica's wild natural beauty. Be sure to capture these moments with your camera, as each turn offers a magnificent new perspective on the Corsican mountains.

From Zonza to the Col de Bavella: an exceptional panorama

The majestic Aiguilles are made up of weathered peaks and rocky ramparts. Their shapes and colors are astonishing. You can admire the Massif de Bavella from the shade of wind-twisted pines, and spot a few climbers on its façades. On site, don't hesitate to savor Corsican specialties in a relaxed mountain atmosphere. Then off to Notre Dame des Neiges, Bavella's patron saint, honored by hundreds of pilgrims every August 05. Bavella is also home to some of the world's most endangered species, including the peregrine falcon, golden eagle, bearded vulture, goshawk and Corsican nuthatch. There are also mouflons and, not far from the site, Corsican deer. A day at Bavella will delight young and old alike!

From the village of Bavella: a multitude of hikes

This exceptional site is ideal for walks and hikes for all ages from 7 to 87! Through the larici pines, a beautiful walk to the foot of the bomb hole, U Cumpuleddu, awaits you: this is the famous Arche de l'Alta Rocca, with an ascent to the promontory for the more athletic who will enjoy a panoramic view of the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio and even Sardinia! Allow around 3 hours round trip (easy, then difficult at the end).

For hikers looking for a challenge, the trail to La Croix de Leccia from the Col de Bavella offers an unforgettable experience. This 2-hour round-trip hike, marked in green, takes you through a steep, rocky path, ideal for lovers of demanding terrain.

Embark on a memorable adventure on the famous GR20, following the white and red signposted path to the Paliri refuge. This medium-level hike will take you around 4 hours round trip, taking you through breathtaking scenery and offering total immersion in Corsica's wilderness. The Paliri refuge, recognized as the most pastoral of the GR20 refuges, is the ideal place for a well-deserved break. Enjoy Corsican hospitality as you dine and spend the night in a comfortable gîte or converted tent, offering a rustic and authentic experience.

How to get to the Solenzara natural pools - waterfalls and canyoning?

After the needles, head 9km downhill towards Solenzara, where you'll come across some fabulous natural pools with jumping-off points and natural slides: magnificent! These include the famous Purcaraccia and Polischellu waterfalls. In summer, you'll often come across canyoning groups, as these natural pools are perfect for swimming, jumping and diving. This guarantees the safety of participants, especially in potentially hazardous environments such as slippery terrain and deep water. What's more, professional guides know the best practices for minimizing the ecological impact on these fragile natural sites.
