Summer vacations: where to go in Corsica with your family?

Are you planning a family trip to Corsica? Great idea! In fact, the island of beauty lends itself perfectly to vacations with children. And for a successful stay in Corsica, find out below what you need to know so that everyone comes back with unforgettable memories to share on your social networks.

Our tips for 15 days or a weekend in Corsica

Nice weather in Corsica.

Corsica is a pleasant place to live all year round: winters are mild, with temperatures sometimes below zero in the morning and as high as 20°C in the midday sun!Corsica's summers are generally hot and dry, with peaks of 38° in July and August, but a little wool in the evening is often appreciated. As you head for the more mountainous regions, the weather remains warm on summer days and a little cooler at night. At higher altitudes, don't be surprised if you still see snow. When hiking in the mountains, we recommend a warm, waterproof jacket that will enable you to cope with all the conditions imposed by Mother Nature, even in summer. Finally, as well as sun cream and anti-mosquito lotion, bring water shoes so that your children can walk along the beach, over pebbles and rocks without getting hurt.

Baby on board: rent a car in Corsica.

Are you planning to rent a car during your vacation in Corsica? Many car rental agencies can provide you with a baby car seat, adapted to your child's age, on request. Please specify this when booking. Our advice: if you have to take winding roads, don't look at the number of kilometers to be covered, but at the time needed to reach your destination. Don't hesitate to ask the locals for advice.

Staying in Corsica: Children's activities.

You won't have time to do everything, so make a list of your desires. Corsica offers a wide range of activities for young and old alike, so you'll have plenty to discover and enjoy together as a family.

Where to go on Corsica's beaches?

There's something for everyone: from the small, intimate cove surrounded by rocks to the vast white-sand beach with a nautical base. You can choose to picnic in the shade of a pine grove or brown prawns in a trendy paillotte. You'll love playing in the water with your children, searching for the precious eye of Saint Lucia in the sand, learning to paddle or renting a jet ski for 30 minutes of thrills and spills!

Among the beaches to visit if you're coming with children:

  • Plage d'Argent to the south of Ajaccio: a long crescent of fine sand bordered by pine forest and dotted with pinkish rocks, calm, shallow water... It's an idyllic beach!
  • Pinarello beach in Sainte Lucie de Porto-Vecchio, shallow for a long time, where pleasant siestas linger under its majestic pine forest.
  • Campomoro : a small village at the end of a road, a very pleasant beach, easy to get to and less crowded than elsewhere!
  • Saleccia beach: take a boat from Saint Florent for a swim in a picture-postcard setting - you'll love it!
  • The magnificentAlgajola beach , over 1km long. Easily accessible from the road, there are numerous straw huts and the town center is just a stone's throw away. Many water sports are available: windsurfing, jet skiing, diving, paddle...

Via Ferrata: between accrobranche days and strong sensationssensations

The most adventurous children can make the most of their vacations in Corsica with an adventure course in the trees! Many leisure centers offer circuits suitable for pre-schoolers and older children. A great opportunity to burn off some energy and share some great family moments! And why not try a Via Ferrata with zip lines ? But be sure to check the age limit beforehand.

Also worth discovering: hiking trails in the Aïtone forest, the Museum of Corsica, World Heritage sites, Genoese towers...

What to do? Organize a cruise with children.

Exploring the Gulf of Porto, and in particular the Scandola Reserve, by boat is a magical experience. You'll approach imposing granite cliffs, pass through caves, discover secret coves... you might even see dolphins! The contrast between the color of the rock and the emerald blue of the sea is astonishing. An experience for the whole family! After this sea trip, we recommend you finish the day by hiking up Capo Rosso to the Turghiu tower, situated 331 m above sea level. A breathtaking view of the Gulf of Porto awaits you.

You can also choose to visit the Lavezzi islands and the cliffs of Bonifacio, on a catamaran designed for 8 people. It's original and great fun for children. Masks and snorkels are on board, as is a paddle for guaranteed giggles!

When is the best time to visit Corsica with your family?

For parent-travelers looking for the perfect location for a trip to Corsica with children, while avoiding long journeys, the best periods are spring and autumn. More precisely, from May to June and September to October, these months offer ideal weather, with pleasant temperatures that are neither too hot in summer nor too cool in winter. This mild climate is perfect for outdoor activities, whether discovering Corsica's magnificent beaches, hiking in the scrubland or visiting historic sites, without the inconvenience of summer crowds. These seasons are also conducive to more comfortable journeys for families with children, as roads and means of transport are less congested than in the high season. Travelling to Corsica during these periods ensures a more relaxed and enriching experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the island's beauty and treasures at a pace suited to the needs of younger visitors.
