Authentic Corsica in Balagne

Beyond the splendors offered by the Isle of Beautyhere we reveal a more intimate and fascinating Corsica. One whose inhabitants are proud to perpetuate the traditions handed down from their ancestors. We invite you to discover an ancestral land, crossed by other civilizations: a journey between narrow streets and ancient ruins, between Baroque churches and medieval towers, where hospitality and the simple pleasures of island life await you for a true change of scenery.

A journey through art and history

Corsican history never ceases to amaze, inviting you to respect and discover a past as rich as it was eventful! An authentic Corsican holiday where the Isle of Beauty reveals itself to the most curious and passionate history buffs.

History from town to village

The imperial city ofAjaccio, BastiaSartène.... Three Corsican towns now classified as Towns of Art and History, whose rich architectural, historical and cultural heritage have made them unmissable stopovers in Corsica. Between tradition and modernity, this immersion in history will take you in the footsteps of the Great Men who left their mark on the history of France, and even Europe. Many jealously preserved relics attract cultural discovery enthusiasts every year, as they conquer the Genoese citadels and towers that bear witness to Corsica's history. Other magnificent towns such as Bonifacio and Calvi are also well worth a visit for a tour of the island's most beautiful cities.

In citadel country

Citadels, forts, bastions, watchtowers, refuges... the Isle of Beauty abounds in vestiges dating back to the Genoese era. In Calvi, you'll discover a magnificently preserved citadel, in Aléria numerous vestiges of the Roman era, but also in Girolata, Saint Florent, Algajola, Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio and Corte. You'll discover the history of many hilltop villages, as well as Corsican hospitality and specialities!

Your vacation: off the beaten track

Treat yourself to an authentic Corsican holiday off the beaten track, where you can discover Corsica's true nature at your own pace. A generous, impetuous and rebellious nature that will thrill you!

In the footsteps of the customs officers

In days gone by, the coastline was patrolled by teams of 2 or 3 customs officers, who patrolled the Cap Corse coastline from Macinaggio to Centuri, in an exceptional setting. Today, to follow the customs trail is to hike back in time between land and sea in a very wild landscape. While the months of May and mid-June are ideal for strolling along the trail, don't hesitate to visit in the off-season, when the temperature is not yet unbearable. A coastal trail for all levels, which can be explored in two stages.

Staying in the Corsican mountains

The Corsican mountains are full of surprises off the beaten track in the Regional Nature Park! Whether in Castagniccia, Centre Corse or Corse Orientale, take the time to stop off in the small villages, push open the door of the grocery store and have a drink at the local bar. In the mountains, hikes, bike rides and horseback rides will take you to stone sheepfolds where you can buy cheese and share a coffee with the owner. You'll often come across pigs, goats and cows along the way. Although this may make you smile, we advise you not to feed the animals and to stay in your vehicle to avoid any incidents.

Authentic Corsica: relaxation and leisure

Here we offer you a less frenetic form of tourism, closer to nature.

A hotel in May or September

If you want to discover all that Corsica has to offer, it's best to come outside July and August and choose a charming hotel or sheepfold rather than a vacation village. It's at this time of year that you'll be able to experience the Corsican way of life, based on pastoralism and wine or citrus production. Because we're a local tour operator, we know all the best addresses in intimate Corsica. We've chosen for you a highly original wine tasting with a renowned sommelier, an escape game and a donkey ride with a Serpentinu, a Nebulosa and a Ghjunsani, the three typical Corsican donkeys.

By boat from the south to Haute-Corse

A land of many passions, Corsica also offers a wide range of outdoor activities, both on land and at sea! Here are just a few of the activities you won't want to miss:

  • Swimming in the hinterland : natural pools, Aïtone forest, Cavu, Manganellu river, Solenzara, Fango valley, Restonica valley, Zoza) or in the forest of Vizzavona, Ospedale, Niolo or Cortenais.
  • Visit a nustrale pig farm on board a buggy , followed by a charcuterie tasting.
  • Hiking and swimming at the Aiguilles de Bavella in southern Corsica, where the most beautiful natural basins invite you to take a dip.
  • Recreation in the Cavu, Rizzanese, Golo or Tavignano rivers.
  • Romantic cruise to the Iles Sanguinaires with a sommelier.
