Where to go snowing in Corsica?

Hiking

Head for Ajaccio, to the beautiful Vizzavona forest, a remarkable site where it's particularly pleasant to take a walk in summer and winter alike. In the heart of the forest, discover Vizzavona. A charming hamlet with many eateries, where you can sample some regional specialities. Contrary to popular belief, snowshoes are recommended for hiking in the snow! As much fun as skiing, you'll be able to reach places that would otherwise be impossible.

Another not-to-be-missed walk, this time on the west coast, is the Spelunca gorges and Aïtone forest. Located in Corse-du-Sud, between the villages of Ota and Évisa, these 2 sites offer a magnificent natural setting. Many sporty hikers regularly meet up at the Pont d'Ota (Genoese bridge) in the direction of Evisa for an unforgettable cultural walk and Mare e Monti trail!

Finally, from Sartène, Porto-Vecchio or Bonifacio, don't miss a walk near the Aiguilles de Bavella. Serving as the route of the GR20 and home to numerous canyons, it's the ideal place to discover Corsican nature in winter. Magnificent views of the southern beaches await you from this magnificent mountain range!

Bathing in hot springs

Providing undeniable benefits, hot springs offer much sought-after curative virtues. If you're planning a winter holiday in Corsica, winter is the perfect time to take full advantage!

Visit the Bains de Caldane, near Chialza and Sainte Lucie de Tallano, in the Alta Rocca region of southern Corsica.

The Baracci Spa near Propriano and the Pietrapola Spa in Fiumorbo are also well worth a visit.

Bearinade challenge

From December to the end of March (or until April 15, see sea urchin fishing regulations), the Oursinade season is in full swing in Corsica. Enjoy them all winter long on the beaches of Ajaccio, on the route des Sanguinaires or on the Revellata peninsula, and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity (and the mild winter weather) to enjoy tastings in a convivial and festive atmosphere! You can eat your sea urchins au naturel with a piece of bread or with a simple spoon, and why not with a glass of Corsican white wine. They're also delicious cooked in an omelette. A seasonal product, oysters are limited to three dozen per person for recreational fishermen.

For oyster and mussel lovers, head for the eastern plain to the Diana and Urbino ponds. The beauty of the site is remarkable, and here you can taste the Nustrale di Diana, fleshy and with a subtle hazelnut taste, which has won several gold medals at the Concours Général de l'Agriculture in Paris.
